Danielle's Story
As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist with over 20 years of experience, I've had the opportunity to treat thousands of patients with a range of different diagnoses, ailments and dysfunctions. It wasn't until after I had my daughter that my interests started to shift over to women's health. My mom friends with infants would pull me to the side during a play date and ask about pelvic pain, how to heal their diastisis, and is urinary leakage normal? I could tell they were embarrassed to ask and unfortunately, I had to tell them that I didn't know. These topics are not covered in traditional Physical Therapy education. Then having had my own pregnancy and postpartum questions and concerns largely go unanswered, I knew I had found a gap that needed to be filled. So, I took as many courses as I could and am proud to say that I've been able to help women with a range of pelvic floor disorders overcome their limitations over the past 5 years. I want to spread the word that it's OK to ask questions about Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions and to dispel the myth that just because you're pregnant, postpartum, going through menopause, etc., that it's acceptable to feel the way that you do! Remember, JUST BECAUSE IT'S COMMON DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NORMAL!
